Seller's Description:
First edition, signed limited issue of the author's in-depth investigation into the allegations put forth in Rolf Hochhuth's 'Soldiers, An obituary for Geneva' (1967). Octavo, bound in three quarters morocco by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, gilt titles and ruling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers. One of a limited number of copies signed by the author on the dedication page. In fine condition. Thompson conducted the thorough investigation contained in The Assassination of Winston Churchill in response to the allegations claimed in Rolf Hochhuth in his 1967 play 'Soldiers, An obituary for Geneva, ' in which he suggested that Winston Churchill was responsible for the death of the Prime Minister of the Polish Government in Exile, General Władysław Sikorski, in an airplane crash in 1943, contradicting the official version of events as an accident, and implying that General Sikorski had been murdered on Churchill's orders.
