The central binding post marked P on the spark coil is Spark Ping. connected inside the wood case with one end of the primary winding of each of the four coils. The other ends are carried up and terminate in the four posts placed on the side of the box nearest the dash and marked C1, C2, C3 and C4. Four wires connect these posts with the different poles of the cummutator. So far the current has been carefully carried upon heavily insulated wire from the battery through the switch and spark coil. A glance at the cut of th ecoramutator will show how the Commutator. roller makes contact with each of the four poles in suc cession and how the current passing through the roller to the driving shaft in the center enters the "ground." Current from the battery to the central post P on the Ground. coil will only pass through the winding whose terminal is connected with the commutator pole having contact with the "ground." In this way, each of the four coils and their vibrators are brought into play as the roller in the commutator successively makes contact with each of its four poles. Returning to the batteries, you will find that the two Battery Cut-Out. negative posts (those marked ) are connected together and that a single wire leads up to the steering post to a push button in the wheels. Another wire is led from this button down the post to a bolt upon the motor which forms a "ground." The push button upon the steering wheel gives a constant contact except when the button is pressed. Sometimes a little dirt will cause it to stick after being pressed, thereby keeping the current shut off. It may often be released by the finger nail, but the dirt should be removed at the ...
