The dilution of venous blood during digestion must be taken into consideration this would, probably, also account for the diminution of red corpuscles. If the blood contains 7831' per cent. Haemoglobin before going through the capillary circulation, takes up fluid there, and comes into the veins containing 785} per cent., it certainly follows that haemoglobin is increased in the vein. As a result of calculation it will be seen that each red corpuscle carries about 18 per cent. More of basmo globin in the vein than in the artery. The only other explanation, that the quantity of haemoglobin remains stationary in the arteries and veins, can, therefore, be rejected.
