Very Good. Complete in sixteen volumes. Illustrated with wood engravings, with color maps and plates. Second (revised) edition-most volumes are first printings thus. Thick octavos, half-bound in brown leather with marbled boards, raised bands and gilt lettering along the spines, all edges marbled, marbled endpapers as well. A few of the volumes have light damp marks along the bottom edges of the text block; all volumes show some light to moderate shelf wear and aging, else all are very good. Bindings are solid.

Good+ Complete 17 volume set includes scarce index, which is volume 17. Three quarter tan morocco leather bound covers with 7 raised bands over marbled boards. Spine panels are toned with some light crackling to the leather on just a couple of volumes; leather on front and rear boards has some light peeling of top layer; corners and bottom edges of covers are frayed, exposing the boards; marbled boards are scuffed but clean and bright. Boards and spines are straight. Bindings are tight. Marbled page edges all the way around somewhat faded but still colorful. Marbled end sheets and paste downs are clean, bright, and in excellent condition. Pages are lightly toned but clean and near pristine. Illustrated througout in b&w plus numerous color maps.
