First edition thus, complete in three hardback volumes. 8vo (25cm by 16cm), lxii, 333pp; 431pp; 500pp. 21 plates (seven in each volume), designed and etched by Ad Lalauze. Original red cloth, gilt titling to the spines, gilt motif to the front boards. The bindings are a little rubbed and marked (the gilt remains bright), there is a bookplate to the first volume, and there is some straining of the inner hinges; overall, this set is in good condition. Signed and inscribed by the translator (Henri Van Laun) on the half-title of volume 1.
