David McKee and Andersen Press were approached by multinational manufacturing giant, Procter and Gamble, on the basis of the popularity and quality of his books including the Elmer stories. David was inspired by the character in the television adverts to write four engaging tales about Charmin and has enlarged the cast of characters to include Fox, Rabbit, Badger and Squirrel. The tales focus on softness, warmth and strength, both emotional and physical - the very qualities for which Charmin and his toilet tissue are famous. The tales are complemented by enchanting full colour illustrations throughout by the animator/creator of the original character and television commercials.
