Almost entirely soluble in boiling water and in boiling dilute alcohol. S. 1860; Simple Ointment, E.; Pommade Simple, Fr.; Wachsalhe, Gr. Lard, 80; Yellow Wax, 20. Ointment is a little softer than "cerate," owing to a large proportion of lard.
