Former leader of the Figures, guitarist Gary Myrick's band, Havana 3 A.M. -- consisting of bassist Tom Felicetta and drummer Jamie Chez -- leans more toward a mix of surf music and Southwestern blues-rock than the new wave that Myrick had been known for in the past. Consistently engaging, the band hits high points on the light, breezy "Havana," the rave-up "Carjack," and the semi-biographical references of the title protagonist on "Blue Gene Vincent."
