When a line meets a curved line so that it touches it, but if continued would not cut it, there is said to be a tangential union. Drawing.--On the printed copy draw a central vertical, complete the lower ellipse, and draw the diameters of the ellipses. Connect the points given at the right, for the central line of the drawing to be made. Indicate the width of the cylinder by indefinite verticals, and draw lines for the long diameters of the ellipses. Determine the width of the ellipses on the central line, and draw the appearance of the cylinder, finishing it in broad lines. EXERCISE VII.--Covered Box.--Appearance below the Level of the Eye.
