To facilitate designing, Norton developed a graph paper that represents crocheted stitches; the elements of the grid resemble rounded shingles or overlapping bird feathers.

I have been lucky enough to have email conversations with the talented Ms. Norton and she is just wonderful. I like books that teach me something I don't allready know and both of her books fit that description. I actually learned how to crochet with my left hand, and you ask how does that help ? Actually it does, it has made me realize that I can do more shapes etc. than I am now, All in all this is a great book.
