It has been said that there is a thin line between fact and fiction. You will find that line throughout Tangled Lives often blurred. It is going to become your challenge, as the reader to untangle which of these characters was plucked from real life and which came from the creative mind of the author. Like most of the Author's books, she blends enough well-known personalities with fictional individuals for your reading pleasure. Maybe it's Moses Down, a pathetic young kid, who once hid from his neurotic Native American Mother under their front porch who one day astonishes Las Vegas goers. "The Apache wasn't a glitzy wonderland of sense-numbing slight-of-hand games encountered by busloads of grandmothers, senior citizens, or hopeful millionaires pouring into Vegas every moment of the day, it was more than that." Perhaps, it's about Matthew Dulay when you read, "This final Act 5 of his life was quieter. It was accompanied with humming engines, muffled conversations going on around him, and a sense of loss and complete and utter heartbreak enveloping him like a suffocating fog the likes that no man should ever have to endure." Or maybe it's Stone Blue that will come too close for comfort when you read, "The woman accepting the drink being offered her had morphed for all sense and purposes, out of Stone Blue the minute she walked into the room. At this moment, this woman had no recognizable identity, weaknesses, and absolutely no heart.""As she drew the last breath of hope out of everyone around her, Stone closed her eyes and let the image of her Grandfather form in a cloud of reckoning. More than the cards, more than the money, Stone Blue relished snatching the heart out of every person she played with, whether in cards or life." When you read, "Vegas might keep secrets, but it still has a good memory." Could it be speaking about Crystal De Holloway? Or will it be the characters on the fringes of the story like Misty Waters, Jeff Story, Joe Spade, or Sandy Foster that give you pause to wonder where they fit in. Either way, you're going to meet a group of people that you are either going to love or hate once you follow the threads of their lives and untangle them for yourself.
