These practices dealt with such matters as justice, faith-healing, rites of passage, child-rearing, extreme medical cures, exorcism, tests of faith, and body decoration. The rites and rituals seen herein were (according to the series' producers) previously "taboo," or forbidden, to the eyes of outsiders -- and besides that, many of them were illegal! It was all very shocking, sometimes repugnant, and invariably fascinating. Several of the first- and second-season episodes of Taboo were narrated by actor David McCallum of Man From U.N.C.L.E. fame.
