This is an essential set for those who read theology, hence the five stars. Hodge is outstanding as a 19th Century American Presbyterian theologian.
I bought the complete three-volume set, rather than the abridged editon. His section arguing against Darwinism is interesting because of his proximity to the original debate, and for its approach. The opening chapters on theological method and the authority of scripture are foundational and enlightening, as is the portions on Christology.
I'll be working on this set for some time to come.
