Think of this as sort of a truncated Spirituals to Swing set minus the gospel and blues performers. It's taken from those legendary John Hammond Carnegie Hall concerts of 1938 and 1939 and a stray 1938 studio date used in the original program. Either way, it's a treasure trove of red-hot performances from the Count Basie Band (and various members of his orchestra) and the Benny Goodman Sextet.
