I read this book a few years ago, back when I was still in high school and I really loved it. I had seen the musical first (the movie version directed by Tim Burton, my personal favorite artist.) and absolutely loved that, so I thought nothing in the entire world could be a better Sweeney Todd story. I soon found out I was wrong. This book and Penny Dreadful's Sweeney Todd are both wonderful Sweeney Todd items.
However, this isn't about the other Sweeney Todd merchandise. From what I remember of this book, the story actually goes a step deeper than the musical, which involves Sweeney's plan to kill Anthony in order to obtain the string of pearls which were to be given to Johanna (I could be slightly off, since it's been a few years and I have been playing Penny Dreadful's Sweeney Todd again.) so that he could sell it and retire. Also, I believe this version introduces to us a new character- a man who is forced to work in the pie-making room below Mrs. Lovett's Pie Shop and is sick of eating meat pies day after day. In this story, Tobias works for Sweeney instead of Lovett.
This review may not have been the best, but I do recommend you try this book if you love Sweeney Todd, or even if you just love a good horror or thriller story. :)
