This book is an enjoyable book to read outloud with children (about 4 years old and up) or for a child (about fourth grade and up) to read alone. It is the story of a young hamster who lived in the fourth grade classroom. As the children learned to care for her they became more and more interested in all that happened to her. How excited they were to hear, "she is pregnant!" Their teacher let them ask questions when their school work was done. She answered those questions with a clearness and a respect that has made even parents say, "read that part again."
