Disappointing
Richard Foley comprares this book with Roderick Chsiholm's Perceiving. Well, they are both philosophical books about perception. They are both written in English.
Stroll points out that there are interesting metaphysical and epistemological issues revolving about surfaces, and some interesting physics as well. Unfortunately, this makes it all the more frustrating that he has nothing of note to say about them.
It is necessary but not sufficient to appreciate this book that you still think there are legs left in "ordinary language" philosophy.
