In fact, this compilation of almost entirely new material by artists on the ISM record label explores the mellow side of Latin, soul, instrumental hip-hop, and funk, with only the occasional breakbeat to remind you of Swingsett's hyperspeed past. Swingsett's own production, "Dropera," recorded with frequent partner Wally, plays with these drum'n'bass expectations by skittering around like a jungle breakdown that never ends. The duo's other selection, "Mandeville Drop," is a downtempo Latin affair that completely ignores the joke. The remaining tracks, produced by artists including Lorr, J. Warrin, and the ubiquitous DJ Spinna, all stick to the groovier side of mellow, with only Beatboxes at Dawn's "Vida Blue" giving any heft to the beats. Swingsett's mixing is virtually nonexistent, with all of the tracks merely segued together. And while the eclectic nature of these cuts may not be conducive to precise beat matching, a little more thoughtful blending would have made the proceedings that much more interesting.
