I'd read 'The Subway' by the same author and enjoyed it, so thought it worth buying another of his works. Big disappointment. The choice of photographs is poor, and doesn't illustrate the diversity of metro systems (repeated photos of similar subjects), and some are just bad composition (I was particularly impressed by the title page photo, where the caption notes Concorde flying overhead - and the title text has almost completely obliterated it!). The text is hastily written and gives the impression of being thrown together. The title suggests that a good selection of world subways will be covered - not just 10, of which five are in the USA.
There are far better titles that cover world subway and metro systems; this is not a good use of your money.
