The general theory contains comprehensive development of the principle of virtual displacements, as well as the Galerkin solution to eigenvalue problems. A separate chapter has been dedicated to the suspension bridge. The theory of single or multiple tuned mass dampers is included, a theory not presented elsewhere. The book contains a chapter covering the theory of structural damping, as well as comprehensive data of the structural damping properties that are necessary forany dynamic response calculation.
