This is a book that holds three shorts. Maybe a better way to describe them is Novellas. They are the type of story that can be read in a magazine that puts short stories in for entertainment. These are NOT full length stories of intrigue, plot driven issues, or of recoupment. They are straightforward short stories of falling in love the ultimate goal and plan from the start. While I read in entirety as I am a huge Howard fan, I did not find these stories up to her usual par. Although they serve their purpose as what they are. If you are up for lighthearted reading of love stories - straightforward and to the point - you will enjoy. If you prefer a backstory and a plot to drive your reading you will not likely want to read this book.
Lake of Dreams: A gal wrestling with dreams brings her back to the place in her dreams where she is repeatedly drown at the hands of a lover. She was an avid swimmer and water person until a month prior where she was first murdered in one of her dreams. She comes home to over come this newfound fear of water). While there she actually meets the man she has been dreaming about. Only to find they are a love so strong they have passed through generations meeting and mating in each one in order to correct the mistakes they made each time in order to have the supreme love. This is the last chance, and they must both trust in this last chance to find true love. Is he really a murderer all those times? You will have to read to find out what happens.
Blue Moon: Copper and a healer. He goes to protect her and finds she can not only protect herself, but that she has a draw for him. They are forced together by a storm that has them stranded. Of course, they are drawn by indescribable attraction and their story comes to a head within 72 hours. This one could be a great story if told with backstory, plot and twists - it could be much more. However, this short is only about their meeting and coupling.
White Out: She saves his life, only to sleep with him within an hour. Minor suspense in this one at least. Another story that could really be a full length novel should Howard had wished it so. But, again this is just a story about a girl finally ready to love again after 5 years, only to find her next love dropped into her lap....Uggh!

Heart warmingly fantastic!
This book is filled with three short stories that will pull at a women heart strings. It is filled with female fantasies and dreams. She got it right with all three, but they are so good it leaves you wanting more of them all. Lake of Dreams: About a women trying to get over her fear of her childhood summer home's lake and her fear of drowning and also her humdrum life as it is as a painter, a house painter that is. When she meets the man of her dreams, literally and comes to find out they were meant to be as he helps her overcome her fears. Blue Moon: The new sheriff meets the town loner and sometimes feared Delilah Jones when he is called to check on the happenings of the town imbecile after he was spotted heading up to her place. When he finds him indangering himself and Delilah in a drunken rage of stupidness. When the sheriff is left stranded adn sudden storm leaves him at Delilah's overnight. Then he realizes he is attracted to her for more than he knows and her the same, in the end he saves her and finds the love of his life. White Out: A blizzard leaves a lodge owner and her dog in the dark when a stranger comes knocking on her door in the midst of the blizzard and barely holding onto life. She takes him in and nurses him back to good health only to find there is real danger lurking beyond her control, but in the end she meets her love.
