Top Notch Jackson Biography
If you want to fully understand Jackson, the man, then you have to read this book. I read many biographies and this one truly amazes me with the breadth of information on the subject, woven into an easily readable account. The references and footnotes are outstanding. Robertson's work looks at all aspects of Jackson and truly underscores the impact of Jackson's faith on this life. While a large book at over 700 pages, it nevertheless was hard to put down. The author acknowledges some of Jackson's weakness on the tactical battlefield but demonstrates his mastery of the operational level and abilities at independent command. I recommend this book to anyone interested in Thomas J. Jackson.
