It's never too late to finish a love story... Cole Barrett, former Army Ranger, has a new mission objective. Sell his grandfather's house and put Deep Haven, a place that holds too many hurts, in his rearview mirror as fast as possible. Recently divorced, single, and unattached, Cole just wants a new life as a US Marshal. One where he can forget the past and start new. Unfortunately, there's a tenant in the garage apartment who's refusing to move. Even worse? It's his childhood crush, Megan Carter, and her son. Wedding planner and single mom Megan Carter loves Deep Haven. To her, it's the place where she makes dreams come true-at least, everyone else's. Her big dream is to purchase the Black Spruce Bed & Breakfast to turn it into a premier event venue and, if she can stay booked for enough weddings over winter, she'll have the needed funds to buy the inn, move out of Grandpa Barrett's garage apartment, and finally give her nine-year-old son, Josh, the life he deserves. She just needs four thousand dollars in the next thirty days. Still, she's oh, so close...until Cole Barrett returns to Deep Haven. Even if he's not back to fulfill a silly childhood promise to marry her, but she never expected him to evict her! The last thing she needs is more expenses. Or for another man to walk into her heart...and break it. When a blizzard strikes Deep Haven, and Megan is overrun with wedding catastrophes, it takes a former Ranger to step in and help. Besides, the more he comes to her rescue, the sooner she'll be able to move out...and he can move on. And that's what they both want, right? Return to Deep Haven with this magical tale about the one who got away...and came back.

Confession I haven't read Susan May Warren's Deep Haven books yet. I found out about her books after those released, I first read her Heirs of Anton series followed by several other series. And finding out there will be more of the Deep Haven books from Susan May Warren and new DEBUT authors like Rachel D. Russell makes me very happy to dig into all of the books!
Still the One is the kind of book one cannot help relating to since there is such hope, faith, and love in the pages of a novel that grips your heart and refuses to let go.
As I haven't read any Deep Haven books (YET!) I was somewhat lost when it came to some things and characters that you were supposed to know things about, but it did not take away from my enjoyment of the story. The fact that Cole is a veteran was no small pull in my want to read this story, and I loved finally getting to meet him, Megan, Josh, and the others.
The wedding planning, my goodness, can I be a wedding planner, pretty please?! I loved every detail, it was just so cool to read about weddings being plan amidst a romance of the characters' own.
The conflict was done in such a way that I did shake my head but I didn't want to hunt the character down to make them see what was going on Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?¦ I loved seeing what happened with Cole, his past, and healing from the mistakes of his family.
Since this is a romance, it is not for everyone however those who enjoy small-town romance, family ties, and hope in their literary indulgences will find this a need to read.
I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e/copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Meant To Be
"You matter Megan. You don't have to do or say or be anything more than you are."
Cole Barrett is a former soldier getting ready to transition to civilian life. However, he must first return to Deep Haven, a town from his childhood that holds some painful memories but also the girl he left behind. Megan Carter is native of Deep Haven. She loves her small town and the life she is building there with her son. Cole returns to take care of his ailing grandfather's medical expenses are and his estate. Megan is struggle to get by and to build her business after her parents move to Florida with her little sister. Megan feels abandoned and unworthy of love. Cole and Megan were best friends once upon a time. Megan thought Cole would always be a part of her life but because of circumstances beyond his control, he had to leave Deep Haven. He promised Megan he would write and come back but he never did. Now he must face her again. Cole is angry and anxious to leave Deep Haven but he must stay until he can take care of his grandfather's estate. The problem is he is beginning to remember why he loved the small town and its residents before his life took a turn for the worse. Can he reconcile the two opposing feelings he has for Deep Haven?
For me, other than being well written with riveting plot lines and great character development, one of the hallmarks of a wonderful book is when it makes me feel a whole range of emotions during the course of the story. This book has done just that. I laughed. I cried. I felt despair for the past hurts of the main characters. I felt joy when the characters had something great happen in their life. This is story of small town live and the community ties that can grow, of learning to forgive, to love yourself and find self worth on your own terms. I love Megan's quirky character with her knack for getting herself in sticky situations, her quick whit and sass. She is strong and independent but struggles with the fact that the most important people in her life have left her behind leaving her feeling unworthy. Cole is a strong alpha male that has been scarred by his grandfather and by his time in the Army. He struggles with feeling like he is enough. This story brings the two together and takes them through a whirlwind of self discovery and attraction. Both Cole and Megan must rely on God and find their worth in Him before they move forward and leave their baggage behind.
This is a stand alone novel, however, if you are a fan of Susan May Warren and her Deep Haven novels, you will enjoy this book. It takes you back to a place that feels like home. You will recognize some of the supporting characters and meet some new ones along the way.
I definitely recommend this book! I received a free copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily leaving a review which is my opinion alone.
