If ever there was a book that truly inspired me, made me laugh, made me look inside myself, made me sad and made me joyous all in one ~ Still LIfe with Chickens by Catherine Goldhammer did it. This frank memoir of her "re-inventing" her life after a divorce through the purchase of a truly fixer-uper house by the sea weaves its magic. Through humor and tears the reader travels through her experiences of trying to make a new home ("several tax brackets" below what she was accustomed to!) for herself and her daughter. Her daughter's dream was to own chickens ~ and the raising of these chickens is the thread throughout the entire memoir which sews their lives back together. I treasure this book and read it again during my own times of struggle for renewed inspiration.
