I don?t usually reread books but I was in the mood for thrilling sci-fi and finding nothing of interest in the local library or book store, I revisited Captain Creideiki and his crew. It was a good choice. Startide Rising is David Brin?s masterpiece. The entire uplift series is solid, but this story of a crippled, outnumbered, outgunned ship crewed by haiku- spouting dolphins is a classic page-turner. It's everything a science fiction novel should be--smart, original and, most of all, fun.
