This is another great story by Rowley in his Universe where the Vang were vanquished. Humans are dominated by the alien Laowon. Humans ex-Laowon slave Jon Iehard and Eblis Bey become involved in the hunt for the Starhammer weapon that vanquished the Vang a long time ago.

Great Space Opera
If only Christopher Rowley were more prolific in his writing - he does space opera as well as anyone - Starhammer is the story of the human race's future as a slave species of the dominant space-faring alien race in our part of the galaxy - the action follows the protagonist's attempt to find and use a legendary weapon from the ancient past - this is part of the Vang Series, a great bunch of books that are concerned with a genetically self-engineered super-race that is not quite extinct by the time humans reach space.
