Excellent, for what it is
This book is a great read for anyone interested in Bob Walker, Jennifer Jones, old(ish) Hollywood in general or, frankly, love stories. Tragic love stories. The book is very well-researched but I found myself wishing it had been a litle more in-depth, especially considering that there are no other full length biographies of either of them. Linet probably painted Jones in a harsher light than she deserved, but there's no denying that the true drama of the story sort of lends itself to that temptation. I've been a huge fan of Bob Walker ever since I saw Strangers On a Train--and just today, because of this book, I watched Since You Went Away and cried through--ehm--a lot of it. It made me want to read the book all over again, which is why I'm on this site now to buy it...this story will break your heart but it's well worth reading, and I think you'll be glad that you did. I certainly was/am.
