Seller's Description:
This vg+++ HB is nearly FINE but for light edgewear/spine fading/wear at head & heel/cover soil/prior owner's book plate. Text block is nearly NEW. Pages 40/41 glued quite tight in the gutter. All text visible. Hardback book, 5 3/4 x 9", red cloth over boards w/ sepia colored pastedown. Highly deckled foredge, numerous full-page black & white illustrations. Copies from this printer are scarce. Although there are a few age items noted above, the book is really in fantastic condition for 100 years old! As this is a story of "Young Illinois", there is quite a bit about Abe Lincoln scattered throughout. Note on the hinges: back hinge tight but might have been properly repaired; front hinge in same condition, but there are two small open areas. This said, the covers are solid and tight.
