I have been on the lookout for detailed, yet readable books on symmetry for many years. Most of the basics are covered in any good introduction to crystallography book, however, those are only good as far as they go. This goes much further, but for anyone with a reasonable grasp of the basics is still very approachable. Having heard one of the authors speak for over two and a half hours on the subject once and keep his audience pretty much to the end, it should be no surprise, nevertheless, it was.
I can't say how good it is for physicists and mineralogists, but for chemical crystallographers who want more than the basics, it really scratches the itch!
