Seller's Description:
Good. No dust jacket. large stain on front cover, upper end of text block soiled. Sewn binding. Cloth over boards. 241 p. Deborah Knott Mysteries (Hardcover). Audience: General/trade.
I really like Margaret Maron. And I really like Judge Deb'rah Knott. In addition I love the embracing characterization of rural North Carolina. Sometimes you ramble through pages before you get to the murder or the other nefarious circumstance into which our judge is being drawn--and drawn of course by her own impulsive nature. This time, she is embroiled with her vast and interesting family. Her nieces and nephews and cousins and in-laws are providing the plot. She has a boyfriend left over from the previous book, but he is largely peripheral. The account of court procedure is great fun, as well as the wooly (i.e. hot) robe she has inherited from her predecessor. And when one of the best defense attorneys goes "judge-shopping" to get his cases away from her bench, she knows a moment of bliss. Finding all the books in the series is something of a chore, but remain faithful to your second-hand booksellers. It's worth it.
