The intention behind the mid-week session was to concentrate less on the spaced drum and bass beats championed by Bukem and instead reflect Fabio's preferred incarnation, which looked into the far reaches of soul and funk for inspiration. Jason Foreman -- globetrotting purveyor of this funk-fuelled vein under the DJ Addiction moniker -- draws together the first dozen singles from the UK's Defunked imprint, extending upon the liquid funk blueprint laid out in the Creative Source compilation of the same name, and in doing so providing the definitive document to catalog the next evolutionary stage of the music. His mixing reflects the tightness of the productions, with a beat-matched-selection which plunges the synthetic depths with a bathysphere of organic bass, as female vocals swim free from the groove. The conga-tinged percussion of artists Carlito, John B, Blue Sonix, and label manager Fellowship rush a plethora of horn stabs and key touches into the mix.
