The school had so few students it was in danger of being closed, and its leadership sought out a gifted music teacher and shifted its focus from traditional academics to preparing interested and gifted children to make significant progress in the study of music and art. As a consequence, the school now has a heady multi-ethnic mix of highly motivated students, beginning at kindergarten and continuing through to the eighth grade.
