This may, in some measure, be accounted for, by the fact, that until of late years, the western portion of it, with its sea-margin, by far the more picturesque and beautiful, was comparatively term incognita so small was the intercourse in search of health, or pleasure, connected with it. It only required, therefore, in these days, to be better known, in some way or other, through the medium of the press, in order to be sought after.
