This book is written in the late 1800's, as are all the books in the Men of the Bible series. They are very well researched and well written, and present in-depth analysis of the history, culture, important people, wars and politics and events surrounding whatever person or people are being presented. They are footnoted and tied back to the archeological knowledge available at the time of their writing. I was able to get a much clearer picture of the life and times of Solomon and learned a lot about Bible history in general. I enjoyed the book very much, and have purchased the entire 17 book series.
