He saw action and was wounded severely in the Korean War but recovered and eventually rose to command an infantry battalion. In between he had his first taste of Northern Ireland in 1969 and later returned as a Commanding Officer. He commanded 12 Mechanised Brigade in Germany and was later appointed to command the multi-national Allied Mobile Force (Land), during which time he was a target for a number of terrorist groups. On retiring from the Army, Mike Reynolds became a well-known military historian and author.
