This document tells the story of several U.S. wood product businesses that are successfully making use of this smalldiameter and unmerchantable material. Some stories describe how the USDA Forest Service National Woody Biomass Grant Program is improving forest restoration by creating markets for this thinned material. One USDA Forest Service project in particular, the White Mountain Stewardship Contract, involves several wood product businesses that are receiving small-diameter and unmerchantable material and successfully producing valueadded products.
