This book is a great wrap-up of one of Ms. Balogh's best series. She does a credible revelation of Wulfric's supposedly unshakeable character. The character of Christine saves him from the de-humanizing effect of his duty-bound upbringing.
Plus Ms. Balogh always remembers to keep us abreast of the other family members she has created. One can't help loving the Bedwyns!

Best of Balogh
Balogh is writing at her very best in this book which ends a stellar series. Not only does she flesh out the Duke, someone who has been a mysterious yet slightly sympathetic character in the rest of the books, but she gives him the perfect mate, a woman whom he brilliantly helps and who helps him regain his humanity. This is a book to read over and over again, which is why it is my favorite Balogh novel.
