Six Characters in Search of an Author (1921) is a stage comedy which laid the foundation for the Theater of the Absurd. A group of actors are preparing to rehearse for a Pirandello play. While starting the rehearsal, they are interrupted by the arrival of six characters. The leader of the characters, the father, informs the manager that they are looking for an author.
