Excerpt from Sitzungsberichte der Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftlichen Klasse der Kaiserlichen Akademie der Wissenschaften, 1907, Vol. 116: Abteilung II A; Heft I bis X Unter den im Jahre 1906 entdeckten Kometen beansprucht der am 3. M???rz von Dr. A. Kopf f in Heidelberg aufgefundene in mehrfacher Beziehung ein bedeutenderes Interesse. Er stand auf einer Platte, die behufs Nachsuchens nach in Verlust ge ratenen Asteroiden aufgenommen wurde, also nahe in Opposi tion zur Sonne, und lie??? durch die geringe Gr??????e seiner Bewegung sofort erkennen, da??? er in einer f???r diese Gestirne ungew???hnlich bedeutenden Entfernung von Erde und Sonne entdeckt worden sei. Infolge der langsamen Bewegung fielen auch die ersten auf Zwischenzeiten von wenigen Tagen ge gr???ndeten Bahnberechnungen recht unbefriedigend aus; als aber der Komet einen l???ngeren Bogen durchlaufen hatte, er gaben sich sofort zwei interessante Resultate. Erstens, da??? seine Periheldistanz weitaus gr??????er sei als die aller bisher bekannten Kometen mit Ausnahme von dem des Jahres 1729 (der gew???hnlich nach seinem Entdecker der von Sarabat genannt wird), und zweitens, da??? sein Periheldurchgang bereits f???nf Monate vor seiner Entdeckung stattgefunden habe, wes halb er, einem althergebrachten Usus folgend, als Komet 19051v bezeichnet wird.
