Marion Chesney is better known for her humorous Regency romances, often with a mystery sub-plot. I particularly enjoy her humor, insight into customs, and excellent plots. If possible, her mysteries are even better than her romances. She does a particularly good job of explaining details of Edwardian life that are crucial to the plot but might not be known to a modern reader as asides without losing the thread of the story. Sick of Shadows is the third book in a series featuring Lady Rose Summer and Captain Harry Cathcart, but it stands nicely on its own if you haven't read the first two books. They and the other characters are likeable and imperfect enough to be realistic and interesting. If you are a fan of Marion Chesney or cozy mysteries, then you will enjoy Sick of Shadows as much as I did! Marion Chesney also writes mysteries as M.C. Beaton.
