Fascinating history, well told.
Although this book is about the Avro Arrow, it actually covers the formation of Avro Canada, its growth, and development of the CF-100 and CF-102 Jetliner as well as the Arrow. It is thoroughly researched, copiously seeded with quotes from all the key players, has detailed chapter notes, and an excellent bibliography.
The personalities, good and bad, spring from the narrative in a remarkable 3-dimensional way. The book was the basis for a CBC mini-series on the Arrow, and my edition has still photos from the TV series, but the text does not mention the series, and the inclusion of the TV illustrations does little to enhance the book (and certainly nothing to hurt it). The author is obviously sympathetic to the cause of Avro and the Arrow, but still seems to be relatively objective in discussing the cost and other challenges it faced.
I can thoroughly recommend this book to any aviation enthusiast.
