The owner of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London, he wrote several prominent plays. Written by Margaret Oliphant Wilson Oliphant, a Scottish novelist and historical writer, who usually wrote as Mrs. Oliphant. With the bookplate of William Alfred Westropp Foyle, a British bookseller and businessman who co-founded Foyles bookshop in 1903 with his brother Gilbert Foyle. From the library of Christopher Foyle, a British philanthropist and the chairman of the famous Foyle's Bookshop in London. Bound in half calf with marbled boards. Externally, smart with light wear to the extremities resulting in minor loss to the paper of the boards. Fading to the spine and board edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout with minor age toning to the extremities. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Very Good.
