His youngest son, Boy Anderson (Philip Alford) is captured by the Confederate army and taken prisoner. Meanwhile, another son, James (Patrick Wayne) and his wife, Ann (Katherine Ross), are murdered by looters. And his oldest son, Jacob Glenn Corbett, is accidentally killed. How all of these personal tragedies culminate in a successfully sentimental finale is the peculiar charm of Shenandoah, which proved to be a hit with audiences on both sides of the Mason-Dixon line. This is a wonderful story about a family who choose to stay out of the war, but unfornutaly things do not go as you plan as a family. The youngest boy is taken and then is placed as a Confederate Solider. The Family sets out to find him, but never does. Intsead they find the girls new husband. After his oldest boy is killed, then they head home only to find bad news there. Of course they never give up hope. I won't give the ending away, but I will say this is one movie that you will want to add to your collection , especially if you like James Stewart and war movies. I know that you will enjoy this movie, and it has been on TV lately. The setting is beautiful. Enjoy.

Involved
I like Jimmy Stewart and it was quality acting by all.
It is a Civil War Drama loosely based on an historical fact.It shows how a family can get involved in something it tries to avoid.
It also demonstrates not to judge until all facts are known.
