A great crime novel! Brian Thiem gives us his third Matt Sinclair Mystery, and it doesn't disappoint. In this story, he tells of a man found buried in a shallow grave up in the wooded country outside Oakland, CA. When Detective Sinclair and his partner Cathy Braddock discover the identity of the man is their friend and former partner, they pull out all the stops to find his killer. Yet every move forward is impeded by the brass overhead, and it soon becomes clear that finding the truth and finding the killer are not one and the same to some.
It's all in the telling that makes a book super or super-boring. Brian Thiem is a master at setting descriptive scenes and developing a fast-paced and thoroughly planned plotline with rich characters. He has written three really fascinating novels. SHALLOW GRAVE is my favorite of his books so far, but I also really liked RED LINE and THRILL KILL.
