Thought provoking
Even though the main theme is sexuality in Victorioan literature, this book gives an overall view of social issues in Victorian England, as well. And even though it does deal mainly with the classics, there's also a chapter on yellow journalism with fascinating accounts of the licentious scams and urban problems that fed these news stories. The copy I bought is in excellent condition. It's a terrific read and a welcome (and provocative) addition to my bookshelves.
