His only reprieve from the torment of war are the seven days he spends in Australia, where he meets the beautiful and charismatic Laura. Though the couple only share a fleeting few days together, Laura awakens feelings in Nick that have been shrouded by the war. They share an intimacy that neither has ever experienced before. Nick vows to return to her, but the situation in Vietnam only gets worse. Nick survives long enough to serve out his one year tour of duty, but the atrocities of war and his PTSD have robbed him of many of his memories, including those special moments with Laura, so he returns home to Tennessee to build a life, start a family, and forget the thing's he done, but he's haunted by a foreboding evil that he just can't shake. Determined to rid himself of this evil presence, Nick turns to the teachings of his faith for answers, but how can he rectify the things he's experienced with the things he's been taught?
