Seller's Description:
Good. No dust jacket as issued. Cover has some wear and soiling. Some page soiling. Paperclip marks. 120 p. Vol. I stated on spine but not elsewhere. This collection of 38 papers is a record of the brief talks on modern science broadcast during the intermission of the New York Philharmonic-Symphony radio concerts. Each speaker, a distinguished practicing scientist, chaffed at the need to fit their topics into the limited time available during these intermissions. The Scientific Advisory Committee that selected the speakers included the Director for the Natural Sciences of the Rockefeller Foundation, the President of the National Academy of Sciences, representatives of Harvard University and the Carnegie Institution, and Douglas Southall Freeman, Editor of the Richmond News Leader and noted historian. Some of these little gems may only have survived in this collection.
