Review of Bobby Gibbes Biography
With the recent publicity in Australia at the time of Bobby's funeral, I researched this book for my father-in-law, who has a general interest in WWII history. Bobby Gibbes' life is one of those wonderful 'boys-own annual' stories. It has only been told in two books, one a privately published autobiography and this one. Unfortunately, both are out-of-print.
Luckily, I was able to find a used copy through Alibris and have since passed the book to my father-in-law. He loved it; its well researched with many black and white photos and gives a well written account of this man's life, including his WWII war service and his adventures starting an airline in Papua New Guinea after the war.
I would recommend it to anyone interested in Australia's WWII history or general aviation history.
