"The Way It Works" is one of the album's more tangible tracks with its subtle acoustics and light string arrangements. "Little Faker" and "Can't Afford" take a slightly different path, but Della Penna and Sharenow are keenly unpredictable as composers. Della Penna reaches for daydreams throughout the entire album; his warm vocals are spring sweet on tracks like "In the Mission" and "Bending Spoons," while the lazy blues-fusion of "Rodeo" struts with a sultry appeal.
