Julie Broad knows of which she speaks. As co-founder of her marketing company, Book Launchers, and a successful multi self-published author herself, shes not reaching to bring information to her audience, nor parroting the words of others. She knows exactly what to do. The reason?
Shes done it herself, and continues to do so for countless author clients, through her successful pay-for-services company.
So, if youââ?¬â?¢re one of the tens of thousands of entrepreneurs that wants to self-promote and succeedââ?¬"DIY version!ââ?¬"you need look no further. ââ?¬Å"Self-Promote & Succeedââ?¬Â? is your book. It may also become your new best friend, too.
First, I found this a dense textbook, full of information. For me, that adds to its value. However, its very well formatted, making it eminently readable.
Next, the content is excellent, covering everything I can think of, and itââ?¬â?¢s also incredibly current. Ms. Broad explains firstââ?¬"with the intent of building a strong foundation for the rest of the bookââ?¬" that sales and marketing are not the same thing. She specifies that marketing is ââ?¬Ë?eyeballs and hopefully attention (on you and your book), while sales are credit cards and contact information.ââ?¬â?¢ She also teaches that marketing can build your brand and increase the size of your platform, and thatââ?¬â?¢s when youââ?¬â?¢ll start to see a difference and sell more books.
Somarketing is first.
Then, in our quest to increase our efficacy at the necessary work of marketing, she teaches us what to measure and how to do so, so we can assess the fruits of our efforts, and where to make meaningful adjustments.
Then she gets into the serious nitty-gritty.
The next section starts with how to build your author brand, and your personal story. How to find your own voice and use itâ"so your work is as effortless and authentic as possible. How to make your brand visual, and how to create the messaging for your brand are also covered.
Then Ms. Broad dives into social media and how to create those all-important relationships. Once again, she says, sales are not the target here, but relationships. Email marketing is well explained, as is a content calendar. Networking for introverts is additionally considered, and helpful.
Ms. Broad continues by covering reviews, libraries, podcast promotions, and ââ?¬Ë?banging on the bookstore doorââ?¬â?¢ as she calls it. Public speaking and audiobooks are also here, to promote your work.
It seems no avenue is left unaddressed.
As a self-published author myself, and someone whos played in many of these pools, I am impressed with her information. Its bang on, and insightful. Im also impressed with how current and to the moment it is.
In conclusion, Ms. Broad has penned an excellent book that can help entrepreneursâ"both introverts and extrovertsâ"stop wasting their time. Youâll learn how to become proficient at this all-important business topic, as well as understand its different facets and purposes.
And finally? If you love pretty colored pens and highlighters, like I do, grab them, along with your sticky notes. Create a reading or study scheduleand start taking in this information seriously.
Or simplyââ?¬Â¦dip into Julie Broadââ?¬â?¢s ââ?¬Å"Self-Promote and Succeed.ââ?¬Â? Youââ?¬â?¢ll learn much even from a quick dive and be able to start applying the time-tested techniques. Rapidly.
And for us busy, DIY entrepreneurs? Thats definitely a win.
